A Digital Revolution in Ondo
ValidViewNetwork gathered that the Ondo State Government has launched an artificial intelligence-enabled Human Resources and Payroll Platform designed to enable civil servants to access and manage payroll-related services through their mobile phones.
The platform, known as Ondo Pay, was unveiled in Akure on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as part of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s efforts to deploy technology to improve public service delivery.
Self-Service for Civil Servants
The SmartApps AI mobile self-service application, which is part of the platform, will enable authorised civil servants to access payslips, view salary and deduction details, update permitted personal information, submit requests and receive payroll notifications without making repeated visits to payroll or administrative offices.
Speaking at the launch, the Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, described the initiative as more than a technology project, stressing the importance of reliable personnel records to effective governance.
“Good governance requires good information, and good information begins with reliable records. The self-service tools would reduce delays associated with traditional procedures and facilitate faster resolution of employees’ requests,” he said.
A Centralised System
The wider Ondo Pay platform integrates employee records, salary computation, approvals, reporting, payroll processing and pension migration into a centralised system with controlled access, authentication and auditable workflows.
The Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, said the combination of self-service access, stronger payroll controls and a clear audit trail would support the government’s accountability and efficiency objectives.
The system would help the state “pay the right employee, the right amount, at the right time” .
A Lesson for Nigerian Youths
Ondo State is taking a bold step into the future. By digitising its payroll system, the government is reducing corruption, improving efficiency and empowering civil servants.
The same politicians who resist such reforms will never allow their own children to work in an inefficient system. Their children are employed in the private sector or abroad.Embrace technology.
Demand transparency. And never forget that a government that cannot pay its workers correctly cannot be trusted.
