The anti-corruption campaign in Nigeria’s public sector has taken a dramatic twist following revelations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. Investigators have uncovered a second ghost establishment operating under the guise of an authorized federal body right within the heart of the nation’s administrative capital.
Hot on the heels of the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) investigation, the ICPC has exposed the “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office.” The rogue entity was illegally allocated prime office space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), exposing staggering administrative vulnerabilities at the highest tiers of government.
The scheme was masterminded by Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, who cleverly manipulated the system by operating under a revolving array of aliases, including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Honourable George Buchi Nwabueze, and George Nwabueze. Despite lacking any presidential authorization or legal backing, Nwabueze ran a full-scale operation from the federal secretariat, appointing state coordinators and hosting a steady stream of unsuspecting visitors.
The fallout has triggered severe institutional accountability measures. Following comprehensive briefings to the Presidency regarding procedural lapses, a presidential directive ordered the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries: M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah, over suspected internal collaboration.
Anti-corruption watchdogs note that these recurring breaches point to systemic weaknesses across multiple ministries, departments, and agencies. As investigators widen their net, the ICPC maintains that further intelligence briefings are underway to unmask all complicit public servants and dismantle networks facilitating administrative impostors.
