President Muhammad Buhari has today, Friday, May 12, inaugurated six Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) intervention projects across three tertiary institutions in Ekiti State to aid teaching, learning and research for global competitiveness.
The beneficiary institutions are the Ekiti State University; Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology and Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
Among the projects are well equipped ultra- modern Vocational Education Workshop complex at BOUESTI, Faculty of Science Lecture Theatre at FUOYE and Faculty of Social Science Twin Lecture Theatre and Medical Ward at EKSU.
The President who was represented by Minister of Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo asserted that the inaugurated facilities at BOUESTI, EKSU and FUOYE gulped N318.85 million, N306.86 million and N369 million respectively.
He said that the infrastructural projects was a clear testament to the irrevocable commitment of his government to provide institutions with basic infrastructure and educational needs that are required for human capital development.
Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono commended the management of the universities for their cooperation and efforts towards ensuring the timely completion of the projects.
Echono, who was represented by Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Babatunde Olajide, said that the projects apart from adding value, will change the face of the institutions and address infrastructural deficits.
While urging the institution to maintain the projects appropriately to inspire the government to do more, the TETFUND boss said the federal government was committed to provide conducive learning environment for the students to thrive.
In their separate remarks, BOUESTI Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Adeoluwa and FUOYE Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina lauded TETFUND for the projects, saying the infrastructural facilities would be of immense benefits to the students and staff.
