
AKURE — In a major boost to grassroots justice delivery, the Ondo State Judiciary has sworn in three new Rent Tribunal Chairmen alongside twenty-one Customary Court Members. The landmark swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at High Court No. 1, Akure, drawing top legal luminaries, government officials, and families of the appointees.
The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Aiyedun Olusegun Odusola, administered the oath of office to the Rent Tribunal Chairmen, while the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Eunice Aderonke Alade, presided over the inauguration of the Customary Court Members.
Addressing the newly inducted officials, Justice Odusola lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support of the state’s judicial system. He stressed that Customary Courts remain the closest tier of justice to the grassroots, playing an indispensable role in resolving disputes deeply rooted in community ties and tradition. Similarly, he emphasized that Rent Tribunals are vital for maintaining equilibrium and fairness in landlord-tenant relationships across the state.
The Chief Judge charged the appointees to recognize that their personal and professional conduct will directly shape public trust in the judiciary. He urged them to discharge their duties with absolute honesty, impartiality, diligence, and accountability, while encouraging them to embrace continuous legal education to sharpen their adjudication skills.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in Rent Tribunal Chairmen, Mrs. Oyegoke Tejumola pledged that the team would serve with utmost fairness and dedication. Speaking on behalf of the Customary Court Members, Mr. Mafolabomi Monday assured the judiciary of their unwavering commitment and diligence in administering justice.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo SAN, OON; the Pioneer President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Folasade Aguda-Taiwo (Rtd.); the Chief Registrar of the High Court, Mr. Ayodeji Akinsanya; and the Chief Registrar of the Customary Court of Appeal, Dr. Yetunde Ajanaku.

Other key figures in attendance included the Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission, Mrs. Winifred Dosumu, and the Acting Director-General of the Ondo State Multidoor Courthouse, Dr. Dickson Ogunfuyi, alongside judicial staff, families, and well-wishers.
This latest development underscores Ondo State’s continuous drive to fortify grassroots adjudication, ensuring that fair, accessible, and prompt justice reaches every citizen at the community level.
