MAIDUGURI — Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have dealt a heavy blow to insurgent networks across Yobe and Borno states, arresting four suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP logistics suppliers and intercepting 20 family members of fleeing terrorists.

The coordinated operations, detailed in a military statement released by Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni, highlight the military’s intensifying campaign to cut off supply lines and dismantle underground support networks fueling the insurgency in the North East.

Crackdown on Drug and Logistics Supply Lines

In the first major operation on August 3, 2026, troops from the 159 Battalion under Sector 2 executed a precision cordon-and-search sweep in Geidam Town, Yobe State. Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops apprehended two suspects accused of funneling hard drugs and essential provisions to Boko Haram fighters.

A search of the suspects yielded a substantial cache of illicit items and logistics supplies, including:

  • Large quantities of suspected Indian hemp and Pregabalin capsules
  • Piscof syrup and herbal medications
  • Multiple communication devices, including Android and feature phones, alongside power banks
  • Everyday utility items and tools such as pocket knives, scissors, lighters, and torchlights
  • Personal identification documents, including National Identity Cards, Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), and ATM cards
  • Cash totaling ₦14,530

Hours later, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the same day, a joint operation involving Sector 3 Garrison and the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion targeted insurgent supply chains in Monguno Town, Borno State. Surveillance of known terrorist routes enabled troops to capture two suspected ISWAP logistics couriers.

During preliminary interrogations, the suspects confessed to transporting provisions intended for ISWAP elements stationed in Kwatan Dowoshi Village within the Kukawa Local Government Area. Recovered provisions and contraband included:

  • 11 cartons and 192 sachets of assorted biscuits
  • 1 carton of Peak milk and 10 mudu of sugar
  • 9 bars of Viva soap, 2 bags, and 16 rolls of sachet garri
  • Operational gear such as 6 headlamps, 3 packs of lighters, 2 Tecno feature phones, an assault knife, and a charm belt
  • Cultural and religious items, including 4 prayer beads and 6 packs of herbal medicine
  • Cash totaling ₦6,600

Fleeing Terrorist Families Intercepted

In a separate breakthrough along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area, troops of the 222 Battalion (Main) intercepted a group of 20 suspected family members belonging to the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction.

The group—consisting of two men, nine women, eight female minors, and one male minor—fled their enclave following relentless military offensives against Gezuwa. The intercepted individuals have been transferred to the 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for comprehensive profiling and subsequent administrative action.

Military Reaffirms Resolve

All arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to specialized military intelligence units for exhaustive exploitation and investigation.

Operation HADIN KAI leadership credited the successive breakthroughs to an intelligence-driven strategy aimed at completely strangling insurgent logistics and denying fighters access to critical resources. The military has commended the vigilance of local populations and urged citizens to sustain the flow of timely, credible information to security agencies to accelerate the full restoration of peace across the North East theatre.
