Widow of Oriire Teacher Begs Makinde for Husband’s Body

A wave of grief swept through Oriire as the widow of late teacher, Mr. John Olaleye, made a heartfelt appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde. Her plea followed the release of abducted teachers and schoolchildren on July 10, 2026, a day that brought relief to many but deepened her sorrow.

“I was sad when I realised that my husband, John Olaleye, was not among those who were released on July 10, 2026. So it is a great pain and sorrow to me because my husband is not among them,” she said.

Appeal for Recovery of His Remains

The widow urged the Oyo State Government to help recover her husband’s remains. She said the family needed closure and a proper burial.

“The appeal I keep making to the government is that they should please look into the matter, have mercy, and release my husband to me.”

She stressed that the family had received no official update about efforts to retrieve the body.

Three Children Left Without Support

The widow addressed claims circulating on television and social media about a ₦50million compensation for families of deceased victims. She said she had no information about such support.

“No, I haven’t. About the money, I haven’t heard anything about it.”

“We haven’t received any money, and we haven’t heard anything official about it.”

Her remarks come amid rising calls for both federal and state authorities to support families affected by the tragic Oriire school abduction.
