The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has expelled 365 students found to have gained admission into the institution using falsified academic credentials.
The institution disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Yemi Ajibola.
According to the statement, the affected students were admitted into various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes after allegedly presenting fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts obtained from different institutions.
Ajibola said the discovery was made during a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on credentials submitted during admission and registration processes.
He noted that the affected students cut across different schools within the polytechnic, with 156 students expelled from the School of Communication and Information Technology, 117 from the School of Business and Management Studies, 54 from the School of Science and Technology, 36 from the School of Engineering, and two from the School of Environmental Studies.
The spokesperson said the institution’s action was aimed at preserving the integrity of its academic system and maintaining high educational standards.
He reiterated MAPOLY’s zero-tolerance stance on fraud, forgery, and other forms of academic misconduct.
The Rector, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against attempting to secure admission with fake credentials, stressing that the institution remains committed to transparency, academic excellence, and professionalism.
Jolaoso added that the decision underscored the polytechnic’s determination to uphold credibility and integrity in tertiary education.
