Lagos Advances CitizensGate with Phase V Onboarding

Lagos State is intensifying its digital push for participatory governance by integrating 25 additional Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) into the CitizensGate platform during Phase V. This initiative, led by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, builds on prior phases where 95 MDAs were already onboarded, aiming to make government services more accessible without physical visits.​

Platform’s Core Purpose

CitizensGate enables real-time citizen-government interactions, allowing residents to access services, lodge complaints, and receive feedback efficiently. Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, Permanent Secretary of the Office, highlighted during Wednesday’s event at Alausa Secretariat that global trends demand responsive governance, positioning CitizensGate as a key tool for accountability and inclusivity. The platform evolved from its 2.0 version launched in 2023, which focused on feedback mechanisms, population profiling, and MDA activity tracking to drive Lagos toward smart city status.

Phase V Implementation Details

The onboarding session featured guidance from Prepaygo Technologies’ Mr. Bayo Solagbade, who outlined timelines, required data, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and customer relationship management flows for seamless integration. Shasore stressed the need for MDAs to supply operational procedures promptly and provide feedback to refine service delivery. Full participation via SLAs is crucial for real-time engagement, ensuring professionalism underpins the platform’s success.

Leadership Support and Vision

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat earned praise for championing citizen-centered policies, alongside Special Adviser Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen. Shasore noted the office’s mandate to bridge citizens and institutions, with ongoing upgrades meeting public demands. This phase reinforces Lagos’ commitment to transparency, empowering residents to monitor government actions and access promised services effectively.
