Osoba blasts Obasanjo, says former president’s letter provocative 

A former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the latter’s letter calling for the cancellation of the presidential election.

Osoba while being interviewed on TVC on Tuesday over Obasanjo’s letter lambasted the former president for not acting as a stateman.

The former President in a letter released on Monday had called the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu that the process of the presidential election was compromised in some areas, and should be rectified.

Obasanjo in the letter released in Abeokuta, specifically called on President Buhari to avert what he termed as the looming danger by ordering cancellation of election results in all elections that do not pass the credibility and transparency test.

Osoba described the statement by the former president as a provocation to violence.

He said, “Obasanjo’s statement is more than an incitement.

“I believe there is a plan to scuttle the democratic process and I pray this would not happen.

“I see this statement as provocation to violence but the people have made up their mind not to be provoked.”

Osoba noted that the former president is already partisan in the election by endorsing the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and therefore cannot act neutral.

The renowned journalist also berated Obasanjo for superintendent over some of the worst elections in the history of the country.

“I’m not happy with him, he is Mt beng objective and I say this base on record.”

“All the election he has ever conducted has always been condemned, in fact the last election he conducted, the unanimous decision of the observers was that the election was stolen and in that election over 200 people died.”
