FRSC Corps Marshal Orders Full Prosecution as Corps Loses Five Personnel to Reckless Motorists

ABUJA—The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has declared that it will no longer tolerate acts of recklessness and hostility against its operatives, following the tragic loss of five personnel across five commands in the month of September 2025.

In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday by Corps Spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed profound grief over the multiple incidents where officers were fatally knocked down by reckless drivers while carrying out their official duties on the nation’s highways.
Corps Marshal Mohammed did not mince words, immediately mandating the full and immediate prosecution of all motorists implicated in the fatal incidents, vowing that offenders would face the “full weight of the law.”

“These knockdowns are not just statistics,” the statement read. “They represent human lives — dedicated fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and breadwinners, cut short in the line of duty while safeguarding Nigerian roads. The FRSC will no longer tolerate acts of recklessness that endanger its staff.”

Gravely disturbed by the escalating hazards, Corps Marshal Mohammed noted that FRSC operatives are now contending with far more than just speeding vehicles. Personnel now face the triple threat of kidnapping, violent attacks, and targeted assaults in addition to careless motorists. He described the increasing dangers as “unacceptable.”

Intensified Safety Measures
In response to the mounting risks, the FRSC is ramping up its internal and external safety protocols. The Corps Marshal called upon all operatives nationwide to significantly increase their vigilance and prioritize personal safety above all else, stressing the imperative that they “need to be safe and alive to save others.”
