It was an electrifying and symbolic moment for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu on Tuesday as the mamoth crowd greeted the final rally held in Lagos. He practically shut down Lagos State as people gathered from the roads to welcome the APC flagbearer.
Tinubu appeared to be in a very good mood savouring the music from a popular fuji musician.
At the rally was President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu was all thanks to the President . In his words, : “As you worked hard for me, I will work hard for Nigeria. All the plans set out in our Action Plan for Renewed Hope for Nigerians will be pursued rigorously.”
Tinubu used the opportuininty to eulogise President Buhari for standing firm for democracy, accountability, transparency and fairness.
According to presidency hopeful, “The president asked all of us interested to go and contest the primaries of our party. After I was picked overwhelmingly by the delegates, he didn’t ask them to change the results because of my tribe or religion or because I’m not from Daura like him, he accepted me and celebrated with me, telling me ‘you are almost there now’.”
Speaking further, Tinubu appreciated the President for giving him a free will to choose the Vice- President. According to him, President Buhari said : “you know better, you are very experienced and you know the kind of person who will assist you to run the country, so pick that person’.
“Thank you Mr. President, you gave me the courage, the confidence and the will to pick right,” he said.
The APC candidate went ahead to eulogise his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima who he described as a knowledgeable and independent-minded person and asserted that Shettima had shown determination and grit to perform and be different, describing him a dependable, reliable and courageous man.
He charged Lagosians to vote massively for him and other candidates of the party and not fall for those who do not mean well for them.
The former Lagos Governor was could not hide his joy as he thanked the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu and all Lagosisns for the massive support.
Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, who is also Director- General, APC Presidential Campaign Council, in his own speech, noted that the party was already celebrating Asiwaju as in- coming president of the country, ahead of the Saturday, February 25 election. According to Lalong, : ”new president had already been sighted.”
The governor pointedly said that Tinubu, who is popularly referred to as City Boy, would soon become Garki Boy, once he gets sworn in as next president, come May 29, 2023.
The Presidential election holds on Saturday, February 25 and Senator Bola Tinubu is considered as one of the top contenders for the exalted position, ValidViewNetwork reports.
