Lee Group is set to invest $50 million in Ogun State, Nigeria, marking a significant boost to the state’s industrial sector. Governor Dapo Abiodun secured these new commitments during a strategic meeting with the Managing Director of Lee Group. The investment includes expanding the company’s detergent business, currently Nigeria’s market leader, and establishing two new food processing factories with a focus on exports to the United States and Europe.

This expansion will reinforce Lee Group’s dominance in the detergent sector, create jobs for Ogun residents, and stimulate wider economic activities through downstream value chains. The new food processing factories signify growing international confidence in products manufactured in Ogun State, further positioning the state as a hub of export-driven industrialization.

Ogun State continues to attract substantial global investments due to its strategic location, business-friendly policies, and infrastructure development. The state’s governor highlighted that this $50 million investment strengthens Ogun’s reputation as Nigeria’s emerging industrial capital, with ongoing efforts to maintain favorable conditions for international investors.

Additional Context on Lee Group and Ogun’s Investment Climate

The Lee Group is a Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate with diverse operations across manufacturing, agriculture, and product development, including a strong presence in Nigeria and West Africa. It currently operates over 80 factories in Nigeria and employs more than 26,000 people. The group’s pledge in Ogun includes developing industrial parks and agricultural initiatives.

Ogun State’s investment appeal is supported by its proximity to Ogun Airport and Lagos Seaport, fertile land, competitive labor costs, and a business-friendly environment. These factors have attracted investments like the Lee Group’s and the $50m Mamuda Group Nigeria Limited, contributing to the state’s robust non-oil economy.
