Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate, have apprehended 37 individuals suspected of internet fraud and cryptocurrency scams in Warri, Delta State, and Owerri, Imo State. The arrests, made on Friday, September 19, 2025, followed verified intelligence reports on their fraudulent activities.
The suspects were caught using various internet-enabled devices to defraud unsuspecting victims. Among them, the alleged ringleader Robert Ebuka Chukwuedo, based on Commissioner Street, Warri, managed to evade arrest by fleeing. However, several of his accomplices were detained at his residence. The group is accused of engaging in cryptocurrency scams, money laundering, and other internet-related offenses.
Seized items include exotic cars, smartphones, laptops, and fetish objects linked to their illicit operations. The arrested suspects are set to face prosecution in court as investigations continue.
