Upminster, UK — On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the United Kingdom branch of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Alumni Association held its much-anticipated 12th Grand Reunion tagged “Essex 2025” at the distinguished New Windmill Hall, St. Mary Lane, Upminster. The event attracted an impressive gathering of alumni from around the world, both in-person and online, to celebrate their shared heritage and dedication to advancing their alma mater.
The reunion featured prominent dignitaries including Ambassador Bolaji Azim Gbadamosi, Global President of FUNAAB Alumni Association; Professor Lateef Oladimeji Sanni, Global Icon and Executive Director of the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute; and former Alumni President Ambassador Olusola Tobun. Their presence underscored the unity and pride among FUNAAB graduates worldwide.

In his keynote, Ambassador Gbadamosi relayed warm blessings from the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of FUNAAB’s Governing Council, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Aragbiji of Iragbiji land. He also shared commendations from Vice-Chancellor Professor Olusola Kehinde, who praised the UK branch for steadfastly supporting indigent students, particularly through food aid programs.
Ambassador Gbadamosi called for the evolution of the current periodic food support into a sustainable year-round food bank to better assist students in need. He assured attendees that collaborative efforts between the global alumni body and the UK branch are underway to launch this transformative initiative.
Professor Lateef Sanni expressed heartfelt gratitude to the UK alumni for their ongoing support and shared his hope for increased unity within the alumni network. He highlighted that stronger collaboration would yield benefits not only for FUNAAB members but also for the broader society through impactful contributions.


The reunion was marked by nostalgic remembrances, networking, and renewed vows to elevate the University through collective actions. Alumni who had traveled to the UK for the occasion mingled with local members, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and purpose.
With Essex 2025 successfully concluded, FUNAAB alumni worldwide look forward to future engagements that continue to uplift their alma mater and contribute positively to society.
