Nigeria in Crisis: Who Will Rescue Us?

The burning question on the lips of every honest Nigerian today is simple yet profound: Who will rescue Nigeria? This nation is not just enduring hardship; it is facing a slow collapse. Prices soar, incomes dwindle, electricity is erratic, fuel costs escalate daily, and education no longer guarantees a livelihood—many graduates now drive motorbikes to survive. Our leaders wield power like gods, while the ordinary people suffer the brunt of long-standing failures.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not have ignited these crises, but he holds the tools to extinguish or fuel the flames. His economic reforms—removing subsidies, floating the naira, imposing tax changes—were necessary in theory, but lacked compassion. They have hit ordinary Nigerians hardest: transport fares have tripled, bread costs more than some earn in a day, power is scarce yet expensive, and inflation is sky-high. Policy devoid of empathy punishes the vulnerable instead of protecting them.

The truth we must face is daunting: no external savior will rescue Nigeria. Not another polished politician, nor foreign loans or empty promises. The rescue depends on all of us—leaders with vision and heart, citizens who act instead of complain, institutions that function, and voters who remember their power beyond election cycles.

The time to ask “Who will rescue Nigeria?” has passed. We must ask instead, “What am I doing to save my Nigeria?” The journey to renewal begins in homes, votes, values, and voices. Nigeria is bruised and tired but not dead—for if we rise together, refuse silence, and choose to build amidst destruction, our nation can still thrive.

So, who will rescue Nigeria? The answer is clear: You. Me. Us. Together.
