Eunice Wuraola Ogini, the first daughter of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, has publicly admonished pastors to refrain from spreading falsehoods and unverified information regarding her late father’s legacy. In response to recent remarks by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, lead pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Mrs. Ogini emphasized that Apostle Babalola preached the gospel of Christ with unwavering commitment and integrity.
Pastor Fatoyinbo had controversially stated that despite Apostle Babalola’s significant anointing, he died poor and questioned the whereabouts of his children, insinuations that sparked widespread backlash. Mrs. Ogini clarified that her father was comfortably provided for during his lifetime and urged ministers of God to verify facts before preaching about Apostle Babalola or any other spiritual figure. She stressed the importance of delivering truthful and respectful messages on the pulpit, citing Apostle Paul’s advice in Colossians 4:6 about gracious and seasoned speech.
The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), founded by Apostle Babalola, also condemned Fatoyinbo’s comments as insensitive and misleading, arguing that equating spiritual anointing with material wealth is biblically flawed. CAC pointed out Apostle Babalola’s sacrificial service, generosity, and influence, noting that he gave lands to the church, supported education, cared for the poor, and lived a life marked by humility and divine provision. CAC added that the late Apostle’s children, including Mrs. Ogini, are alive, blessed, and quietly serving in their respective ministries.
This controversy highlights the tension between different theological views on ministry wealth and the need for respect and truthfulness in discussing the legacies of revered spiritual leaders. Mrs. Ogini’s call serves as a reminder for religious leaders to honor the truth and uphold the dignity of Apostle Babalola’s memory through honest and loving testimony.
