The Ondo State Government has approved N3.5billion as counterpart funding for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), a collaborative initiative with the World Bank aimed at driving rural road development statewide. The approval was announced following the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in Akure.
Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, explained that this financial commitment underscores Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resolve to strengthen rural infrastructure and boost agricultural productivity across all 18 local government areas. “The Ministry of Infrastructure has been directed to conduct comprehensive inspections and hydraulic assessments of rural roads, identifying those most in need of urgent rehabilitation and upgrading drainage systems to ensure long-lasting results,” Olawoye stated. He appealed for patience, assuring residents that the present focus is on sustainable infrastructure, not quick fixes.
In tandem with its infrastructural push, the State Executive Council also cleared the launch of a comprehensive flood-mapping initiative—a proactive response to climate change and recurring flood disasters. Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Tob Loko, told journalists the exercise will not only pinpoint flood-prone locations but also address the environmental and structural contributors to flood risk.
Dr. Loko emphasized that emergency plans, including temporary relocation and the distribution of relief materials, are being considered for communities affected by unexpected flooding. He urged residents—especially those in high-risk zones—to cooperate with field officers as the government embarks on data-driven prevention and risk management strategies.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, highlighted that these developments reiterate the administration’s commitment to statewide infrastructural renewal. He called on the people of Ondo State to continue to support Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, promising that more people-focused developmental projects are on the horizon.
These moves are part of a broader agenda by Governor Aiyedatiwa to deliver robust, people-oriented governance, and to ensure the dividends of strategic infrastructure improvements reach even the most remote communities in Ondo State.
