Man Loses Manhood After Botched Penis Enlargement Surgery

A man was forced to lose his manhood in an amputation following a botched attempt to increase the inches of what he had between his legs. The horrific case highlights alarming trend of complications arising from unregulated cosmetic treatments – which are increasingly burdening the NHS.

In a disturbing development, men have been flocking to unlicensed ‘pop-up clinics’ in Glasgow seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction or to “enlarge” their genitals. These procedures involve injecting Botox or fillers into the patient’s genitals, leading some to seek emergency medical care at NHS A&E departments due to a variety of complications, reports the Mirror.

In one extreme case, a patient had to have his penis amputated after a poorly executed enlargement procedure. The NHS source revealed that one patient sought help at A&E after having a substance similar to Vaseline injected into his penis, with side effects so severe that amputation was necessary.

The source form Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley stated: “We also had a patient in his 30s who had Botox injected into his penis. He ended up suffering an extremely severe reaction. The number of male patients we are seeing coming through the doors with similar issues from botched aesthetic procedures is increasing.”

The source warned: “Pop-up clinics in the Glasgow area are rife. There are day clinics with unregulated people dishing out new treatments then leaving customers to deal with the consequences.

“The men who come in looking for help with side-effects say there are often queues down the street to get into one of these day clinics.”

Medical professionals have verified that Botox can be administered to address erectile dysfunction by easing muscle tension and enhancing circulation, whilst dermal fillers may be used to restore lost volume when injected into tissue.

These treatments are becoming increasingly sought-after across the UK, fuelled by social media trends that create opportunities for unscrupulous operators to exploit vulnerable clients. One Glasgow establishment is reportedly advertising penile enhancement procedures using injectable fillers, with costs beginning at £950.

Dr Ben Taylor-Davies, who operates the Stockbridge Clinic in Edinburgh while serving as an A&E physician, revealed his practice recently turned down a company seeking space to conduct intimate enhancement procedures.

He explained: “I am horrified to hear what is happening to male patients who go to “pop-up clinics” but I am not surprised. There are very few specialist doctors who can perform cosmetic injection procedures on male genitals.

“It is not a procedure I would ever recommend to a patient, even if you went to a specialist, never mind a back-door pop-up clinic. Injections in these areas carry a high risk of infection and could lead to death. This is another example of the dangers the public faces over the lack of regulation in aesthetics.”
