Umuahia, Abia State –Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo Zonal Directorate, on Friday, July 18, successfully dismantled a suspected cybercrime training centre, aptly named ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Hustle Kingdom,’ in Umuahia, Abia State. The intelligence-led operation resulted in the arrest of eight alleged trainees and an additional fifteen individuals.
The raid, stemming from credible intelligence, targeted the training facility located at the Doofco Palace building, behind Government College Umuahia. Following this initial bust, further arrests were made in other areas of Umuahia, including Umudike, Ahiaeke, and Umugu.
The eight suspected trainees apprehended at the ‘Hustle Kingdom’ have been identified as Toona Henry, Tavershima Solomon, Chi Orseer James, Ubee Benjamin, Gabriel Ibe Ifeanyi, Tindue Godwin, Muhammed Terwase Micheal, and Destiny Andrew.
The fifteen other suspects arrested in the coordinated operation include Okezie Almond, Precious Osmond, Kenneth Prospect, Iweobi Chika Augustine, Nedolisa Victor, Kanu Austin, Anolu David, Collins Chinedu, Joshua Nnamdi, Ogechi Chibuzor, Michael Chinonso, Prince Chigozie, Festus Nwogu, Michael Lazarus, and Kingsley Ndubuisi.
During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered significant items believed to be used in the illicit activities, including two cars, fifteen laptops, and thirty-four mobile phones.
The arrested suspects are currently in EFCC custody and are expected to be charged to court soon as investigations continue into their alleged involvement in cybercrime. This bust marks another step in the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to curb internet fraud and dismantle organized cybercrime networks across the country.
