The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, on Wednesday, July 8, 2025, arraigned Adepoju Emmanuel Abiodun, the promoter of the popular betting platform Bigibet, before Justice O.A. Okunuga at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. Abiodun and his company, Nobelsteed Nigerian Limited, are facing a 10-count charge bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretence, amounting to N855 million.
According to the EFCC, the charges stem from allegations that Abiodun and his firm fraudulently obtained funds from investors by promising returns that were never delivered. The prosecution alleges that the defendants lured unsuspecting members of the public into investing their money in schemes purportedly run by Bigibet, only for the funds to be diverted for personal use.
The court proceedings, which commenced today, saw the EFCC present evidence and outline the charges against Abiodun and Nobelsteed Nigerian Limited. The case has attracted significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the substantial sum involved.
Justice Okunuga has adjourned the matter for further hearing, while Abiodun and his company remain under investigation. The EFCC has reiterated its commitment to pursuing financial crimes and protecting investors from fraudulent schemes.
