Sagamu, Ogun State — The Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival, a distinguished annual event celebrating choral excellence and spiritual upliftment, marked its 16th year with the 2025 edition themed “With the Voices of Singing.” The festival took place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Abraham Tabernacle Church, located on Oba Erinwole Road, G.R.A, Sagamu — an ecumenical worship center founded by Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel.
Founded by Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, the visionary leader and Asiwaju of Remo Christians, the festival originated as part of his family’s annual thanksgiving program. It honors his late father, His Grace, Most Revd Abraham Adebola Daniel, JP (1916–2011), through the International Ecumenical Worship Centre, also known as the ABRAHAM TABERNACLE, which Daniel built to immortalize his father’s legacy.
Since its inception about 16 years ago, the festival has grown from a family event into a nationwide celebration of sacred music, drawing choirs from diverse churches and choral groups across Nigeria. The festival’s motto, “Improving the art of singing in our churches,” underscores its mission to elevate the quality of church music and promote gospel preaching through song.

In 2022, the festival was rebranded as “The Choir Festival,” marking its evolution into a standalone event dedicated solely to choral arts. Now in its fourth edition under this new banner, the festival continues to thrive as a platform for spiritual enlightenment and moral fortification through music.
The festival features a competitive format with categories including vocal quality, diction/articulation, interpretation, audience appreciation, dynamics, and appearance. The host choir, Abraham Tabernacle Choir, and the defending champions from the previous year automatically qualify for participation. Other choirs gain entry through invitation and audition, ensuring a high standard of performance.
The 2025 edition attracted increasing interest from organizations, companies, and individuals eager to partner with the festival, recognizing its growing impact as a vehicle for spiritual growth and community cohesion.
Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel’s commitment to nurturing church music and fostering unity among Christian communities remains the driving force behind this inspiring journey of faith and song.
