Iran launched a significant barrage of missiles and drones targeting northern and central Israel, including the cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv, on Monday, June 23, 2025. This assault was part of Iran’s Operation “True Promise 3,” following massive US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
Israel’s defense systems were activated to intercept the incoming threats, and residents were urged to seek shelter. Initial reports indicated no immediate damage from the Iranian missile and drone attacks, though sirens and impacts were reported in areas such as Ashdod and Lachish.
The Iranian military warned the United States that its forces had been given a “free hand” to target American military assets in retaliation for the US strikes, which involved bunker-buster bombs aimed at Iran’s underground nuclear sites, including Fordow and Natanz.

In response, Israel intensified its air campaign against Iran, conducting strikes on multiple Iranian military targets, including missile launch and storage sites near Tehran and Kermanshah, and reportedly hitting at least six airports across Iran.
The situation has escalated fears of a broader regional conflict. The United Nations and European Union have called for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic efforts, warning against further destabilization, especially concerning the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping route.
Iranian General Abdolrahim Mousavi condemned the US strikes as violations of Iran’s sovereignty and equated them to an invasion, emphasizing that Iran now has the liberty to act against US interests and military presence in the region.
This latest exchange marks a sharp escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, with both sides sustaining and inflicting significant military actions amid growing international concern over regional stability.
