OperationIn a significant victory against kidnapping in Kwara State, troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, successfully rescued two kidnap victims and apprehended eight suspected kidnappers during a well-coordinated raid in Latandaji Village, Patigi Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted on Saturday, June 21, 2025, was launched following credible intelligence reports about the kidnappers’ hideout. According to Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the troops encountered mild resistance but quickly subdued the suspects using superior firepower.
The rescued victims, identified as Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael, were found unharmed. One of the suspects, Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and is currently receiving medical treatment at Bachita Teaching Hospital.

During the search of the area, the military recovered two motorcycles and two expended cartridges believed to be used by the kidnappers. The eight suspects are now in military custody and will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to continue providing timely and actionable intelligence to aid security operations.

“This operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to safeguard lives and property,” the statement emphasized.
This successful raid highlights ongoing efforts by security forces in Kwara State to combat the rising menace of kidnapping and restore peace to affected communities. Residents of Patigi and surrounding areas have welcomed the development, expressing hope for sustained security improvements.
