
Nembe, Bayelsa State — Governor Senator Douye Diri was warmly received by jubilant crowds in Nembe Local Government Area yesterday as part of his 2nd Term Thank You Tour following his re-election in the November 2023 governorship election. The event was marked by celebrations, traditional fanfare, and heartfelt appreciation from both the Governor and the people.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Diri expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support and votes from Nembe residents. “We campaigned here, we promised to return to say thank you, and today we fulfill that promise. On behalf of the Government of Assured Prosperity, I bring heartfelt thanks to the people of Nembe,” he declared.

The Governor also highlighted Ogbolomabiri as a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), underscoring the region’s pivotal role in his electoral success.
At the palace of the Amayanabo of Nembe, Mingi the 12th, King Edmund Daukoru, reiterated the community’s unwavering support for Governor Diri. He praised the Governor’s humility, integrity, and commitment to fulfilling promises, noting the numerous development projects initiated across Bayelsa State under his administration.

The event featured a special performance by legendary musician Fubara Orutugu, renowned for the hit “Toyo-Toyo,” adding cultural vibrancy to the celebrations.

Prominent dignitaries present included Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, former Deputy Governor Gboribiogha John Jonah, Senator Benson Agadaga (Bayelsa East), members of the House of Representatives from various constituencies, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government Professor Nimibofa Ayawei, Chief of Staff Dr. Peter Akpe, PDP State Chairman Solomon Agwana, and other key government officials.
