The curtain fell on the 2024 National Sports Festival with a vibrant and emotional closing ceremony in Abeokuta.
Celebrated singer Waje opened the night with renditions of the national anthem and the festival’s theme song, setting the tone for an evening of colourful entertainment.
The celebration coincided with the birthday of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was surprised with a birthday cake presented by senior government officials. Team Delta, the defending champions, were crowned once again, topping the medals table with 126 gold, 100 silver, and 111 bronze medals.
The torch was officially passed to Enugu State, the next host of the National Sports Festival, as the games fire was extinguished amid spectacular fireworks, marking the end of a successful edition of the festival.
