IBADAN – Dreams were tragically cut short today in Ibadan when a stray bullet, reportedly fired by a police officer in pursuit of a vehicle, claimed the life of an innocent secondary school student. The student was en route to his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams, accompanied by his father, when the devastating incident occurred.
The shocking death sparked outrage and grief among residents, particularly the youth. Following the tragedy, a crowd of distraught young people carried the lifeless body of the student to the Oyo State Secretariat in Agodi, demanding immediate justice and accountability for the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported that the student was struck by the bullet during a police chase involving an unidentified vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including why the officer discharged their weapon, remain unclear at this time.
The death has ignited fresh concerns over police conduct and the safety of citizens, particularly in densely populated areas.
