Jos, Plateau State – Tragedy struck this morning as suspected Fulani militias ambushed members of the Irigwe community, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to another, according to a statement released today by the Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM).
The IYM’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, identified the deceased as Adamu Bala, 38 years old, and Gado Trra, 45 years old. He further stated that one person survived the attack with bullet injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
In a concerning development, the IYM also reported that a military personnel sustained bullet injuries during the ambush. The location of this incident was not specified in the statement.
Beyond the loss of life and injuries, the Irigwe Youth Movement highlighted the extensive destruction of livelihoods, stating that over 20 farms were razed in the attack.
The statement, e-signed by Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, and dated April 23, 2025, has raised concerns about the escalating violence and its impact on the Irigwe community. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
