During a courtesy visit to Governor Makinde at his private residence in Ibadan over the weekend, the monarch emphasized the importance of extending the existing CCTV coverage from Ibadan to Fiditi, further towards Oyo town, as a measure to enhance security in the area.
In a statement released by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin lauded Governor Makinde’s leadership qualities, describing him as “a man with an objective bent of mind, who is extremely curious and always on the quest for truth.”
Oba Owoade, who was accompanied by his wife, Ayaba Abiwunmi, also commended the governor’s openness to superior arguments grounded in logic and evidence, even while remaining steadfast in his principles.
“Governor Makinde is deeply passionate. He believes strongly in the causes he champions and remains committed to the emancipation and well-being of his people,” the Alaafin stated.
The monarch further expressed his commitment to fostering trust between the government and the populace through transparent and consistent communication, acknowledging their strengths, challenges, and aspirations.
Responding to the request, Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction with the transparent selection process that led to the Alaafin’s emergence, affirming his neutrality throughout the process. He also appreciated the monarch’s visit and his suggestions for enhancing the state’s security architecture.
