Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas(rtd), has approved the appointment of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas in the state. This move comes despite a recent court order restraining him from making such appointments. Additionally, Ibas has reconstituted some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals that were previously suspended.

He also appoint Michael Odey as the new Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC). The appointments of local government administrators took effect from April 7, 2025
