Police Rescue 21 Kidnapped Victims, Recover N4.8M Ransom, Arms, Ammunition

The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its nationwide operations to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes, achieving significant breakthroughs in recent months. These efforts have led to the rescue of 21 kidnapped victims, the recovery of N4.8 million in ransom money, and the seizure of arms and ammunition.

In Taraba State, police operatives attached to the State Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully rescued 20 kidnapped victims on March 29, 2025, along the Takum/Mararaba road. The operation followed a kidnapping incident in Muji Town and involved a fierce gun battle that forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives. Two victims who sustained injuries are receiving medical care. Vehicles abandoned at the scene were also recovered.

In Kano State, a meticulous investigation into the March 8 kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau resulted in the arrest of six suspects on March 18 and 19. The suspects—Tukur Lawal (aka Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim—were apprehended by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad. A locally made rifle and N4.8 million believed to be ransom money were recovered during the operation. The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.

Additionally, operatives of the Special Tactical Squad arrested Kafinta Musa in Taraba State for armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal possession of firearms. An AK49 rifle loaded with live ammunition was seized during his arrest.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism while urging public cooperation in providing timely information to aid ongoing efforts against crime. These operations highlight the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring safety and security across the nation.
