Gunmen have kidnapped at least 10 travellers along the Owo-Ipele-Benin Highway in Ondo State.
The incident occurred on February 4, as the victims were returning to Akure from a South-South state.
The assailants reportedly ambushed the travellers, forcing them out of their commercial vehicle, which was later found abandoned by the roadside.
Other motorists, upon discovering the deserted vehicle, alerted the authorities.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, stated that seven people had been abducted.
She added that investigations were underway and assured that updates would be provided as they emerged.
Meanwhile, sources disclosed that the kidnappers had reached out to the victims’ families, demanding ransom for their release.
