The House of Representatives, on Thursday, approved Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Oluyede’s confirmation came after a report was presented by Hon Babajimi Benson, the Chairman of the Committee on Defence.

On Wednesday, the Joint Committee on Army and Defence had screened Oluyede.

Recall that Oluyede was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Acting COAS following the ill health of the former Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, who later died.
