A Point-of-Sale agent, Uzoma Godswill, was reportedly abducted by individuals armed with AK-47 rifles, later identified as police officers, along Eleme Road, Rivers State.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared the incident in a video posted on X.com on Thursday, revealing that the abductors, posing as police officers, confiscated Godswill’s ATM card and withdrew N1 million from his account, along with a PoS charge of N20,000.
According to Gwamnishu’s tweet, Godswill was accosted on Elele Road by men dressed in black overalls, who thoroughly searched his car and demanded to see his phones.
When Godswill refused to surrender his phone, he was allegedly beaten, abducted, and coerced into unlocking his phone and revealing his ATM PIN.
Godswill recounted his ordeal, stating that the men accused him of internet fraud and threatened to kill him.
They proceeded to withdraw N1 million from his account using his ATM card and left him with his car after instructing him to express gratitude.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Tunji Disu, stated that he was unaware of the complaints but assured that necessary actions would be taken upon investigation.
The incident highlights concerns regarding police misconduct and abuse of power, as well as the need for accountability and justice in law enforcement.
