The tragic death of Loveth, wife of Prince Ovwiomodiowho, and their unborn son, Jason, at R Jolad Hospital in Lagos State has sparked accusations of negligence and failure to provide adequate care.
Ovwiomodiowho, a registered nurse anaesthetist, has raised serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death and the lack of proper medical attention provided by the hospital.
According to Ovwiomodiowho, his wife began her ante-natal care at R Jolad Hospital in 2023 but tragically bled to death shortly after undergoing a caesarean section on March 8, 2024.
He alleges that the hospital’s lack of a competent surgical team and essential equipment contributed to the devastating outcome.
Ovwiomodiowho recounted the events leading up to his wife’s death, including a prolonged induction process that resulted in the rupture of her uterus and severe bleeding.
Despite his objections to the midnight induction, the hospital proceeded with the procedure, ultimately leading to a catastrophic outcome.
He further claims that the hospital was ill-equipped to handle the emergency, lacking essential surgical equipment and personnel.

Ovwiomodiowho alleges that there was no surgeon, anaesthetist, or paediatrician available during the surgery, and critical equipment such as oxygen systems and ventilators were inadequate or unavailable.
The grieving husband also accuses the hospital of withholding vital medical specimens, including his wife’s uterus and placenta, which he believes are crucial for further investigation into the cause of death.
In response, the management of R Jolad Hospital denies allegations of negligence and insists that they provided appropriate medical care according to standard protocols.
They attribute Loveth’s death to her husband’s religious beliefs, which prohibited blood transfusion, despite the severity of her blood loss during delivery.
Dr Funsho Oladipo, the hospital’s Managing Director, maintains that all necessary measures were taken to save Loveth’s life, and any delays or deficiencies in care were due to the family’s refusal of blood transfusion.
The conflicting accounts of Loveth’s tragic death underscore the need for a thorough investigation into the events leading up to the incident.
The grieving family deserves answers, accountability, and justice for their loss, while ensuring that such tragedies are prevented in the future.
