A 14-year-old girl, Mujidat (not real name), who was discovered to have slept with many men and got pregnant after having s3xual intercourse with three different men at times close to one another, said she was pushed into such because she didn’t get enough care from her mother.

She said that her father, now deceased, was the one who broke her hymen at 10 years old when he slept with her while living with him. She said that the man, a musician, continued for about a week before she left the house where she stayed with him.

Mujidat also made it known that her parents got separated when her father married another woman who also left after a misunderstanding.

She disclosed that her mother had seven children for three different men, with her and two siblings belonging to the same father while two each of mother’s other four children belonged to two different men.

Mujidat’s story became known after she was stopped by members of a joint patrol of vigilante groups when she was seen on motorcycle at almost 12 midnight.

After interrogation, the teenager was discovered to be pregnant, leading to the arrest of two men, Dayo and Sodiq (surnames withheld) who she mentioned to have slept with her.

Further investigations led to the discovery that those two were not only ones who slept with her at the time she was suspected to have become pregnant, as she later mentioned one Kehinde who still had intercourse with her after the discovery of her pregnant state and the arrest of the first two.

The Commandant of the joint patrol, who also doubles as that of Oluyole Security Surveillance Team (OSST), Olusegun Idowu, told the Nigerian Tribune that the girl was stopped by vigilante men very late in the night. He said that they thereafter called OSST to notify him. Idowu added that he sent some of his men to bring the girl to the office for questioning in order to get information from her.

One of the men, 27-year-old Dayo, who said he was a fashion designer but started riding commercial motorcycle, plying Ayegun area to expressway, told the Nigerian Tribune: “I  knew her in December 2023 when I picked her as a passenger. We exchanged numbers and discussed about four days later. I wooed her, and she thereafter spent a week with me.

“I asked of whom I could know in her family since we have an ongoing relationship but she said it was not possible. My landlord who saw her with me frowned at it, saying that she was young, with her stance on not revealing her family members. He asked me to send her away. She stopped coming but I slept with her again once in February.”

The second man, Sodiq, aged 30, during an interview, said that he knew Mujidat from Dayo. “Dayo and I are friends. I knew the girl was Dayo’s lover, but I also slept with her once. When she came to me overnight. She was coming to me again on a night when she was stopped at almost 12 midnight by a relation who is a vigilante group member.”

Nigerian Tribune took time to interview the pregnant teenager, which led to startling revelations.

According to the girl, “it was my mother who turned me to what I became. My father is dead. I’m the third born of my mother but second born of my father. I stopped schooling at Primary Six when my father died about two years ago.

“Before my father’s death, my brother and I were living with our mother. My father married another wife and my brother and I went to stay with him. He was a Fuji musician.  Later, there was a quarrel between him and the second wife and they parted. He used to bring ladies home when he went to Masfala to live with me and my younger brother.

“When the ladies stopped coming, my father started sleeping with me. I was about 10 years old then. The first time was at midnight and it was dark. I was hurt and bled, so I felt weak to get up in the morning. When family members came to the room to check and I told them what happened, they didn’t believe me. They told me not to talk about it so that it would not turn to embarrassment for the family.

“The day my father came again and I didn’t agree to his demand and I told him I would sleep at the passage, he carried me, threw me on the ground and hit my foot with a grinding stone. Family members shouted at him for what he was trying to do me and he left the house in anger.

“He went to Lagos to sing. I started living in the house of the woman who was my half sister’s acquaintance. When my father came to Ibadan, he started cursing me and said that he would not want to see me around him again. People appealed to him and he took me in.

“He slept with me again that I could not even get up. Household members came to check on me and saw the state I was in.  However, his family members did not believe me when I told them. They were cursing my mother.

“My paternal aunt in Lagos asked me to come and stay with her and I was taken there by my stepmother. When I got there, I discovered that she was an Osun worshipper, and instead of her promise that I would continue schooling, she made me to join Osun adherents and made me to be carrying a big calabash (arugba) to perform rites. I carried the calabash a couple of times and was afraid of what I was being turned to.

“After some time, the first child of my aunt said I should come and live with her, but asked me not to tell her mother. Later, I was told to come back to Ibadan and asked to stay with my mother. When I got her, she was not taking care of me. I was always hungry. My mother took me to a tailor for apprenticeship. While there, if any man came and gave me money, I would accept it. They would tell me that they liked me. I was usually given N500.

“That was how the men started sleeping with me. The first time, I was taken to a brothel. I was about 12 years old. The manager of the brothel did not see anything wrong with me being a young girl. I had three men as lovers before I left my mum for my friend’s place at Olomi Area to play. From there, I went to my maternal grandmother. That was where I met Dayo.

“He was a commercial motorcyclist and he picked me. That time was when my grandmother said I could not live with her because I followed some friends to church. I went to stay with Dayo when he called me. He used to give money to buy food. Within a week, we copulated three times. “When his landlord noticed me, he called Dayo and expressed his disapproval, telling him to send me back to my parents as I was underaged. Dayo told me to leave without giving any money.

“I left the place and joined some girls who I saw at Feranjesu junction, Olunde Area. We used to sleep in the house of another friend whose mother travelled. That was how I met Dayo’s friend, Sodiq. He slept with me on January 1, but I still saw my period thereafter.

“I was on a bike when I saw Dayo again. He told me to come and see him at home. I snuck in to avoid being seen by his landlord and we had s3x. Sodiq also wanted me to be his girlfriend but I told him that Dayo and I had settled our quarrels and I couldn’t date him. He then toasted my friend and they started dating. However, I was sleeping in his house every night along with my friend because I didn’t want to return to my mother.

“Some people started noticing a change in me and told me I was pregnant. On a night, I was at Olomi, waiting for my friend so that we could go and sleep at Sodiq’s place. I stayed with another friend, waiting for her. At 11:30 p.m., the friend told me it was late and I should go to where I was staying without waiting again.

“On my way, I was stopped by vigilante men who asked me questions. They took me to Sodiq’s place where I told them I was staying, and they confirmed it. I was taken to my mother where people told her that I was pregnant. They bought a pregnant test kit and it showed that I was truly pregnant.”

The pregnancy, it was learnt, led to the arrest of the two men mentioned by the teenager. This was because aside impregnating her, they were having s3xual intercourse with an underaged.

Surprisingly, the Nigerian Tribune learnt that after the two young men were arrested and transferred to Sanyo police station, the teenager went to a third male, Kehinde, who slept with her despite being pregnant.  The third man was said to have had intercourse with her within the period before she got pregnant.

When asked if this was true, the pregnant teenager admitted it and explained: “It is true that Kehinde also slept with me in February. I knew him at Olunde when I was with my friends. Men used to have intercourse with us. Kehinde came to me and said he wanted to befriend me. I asked him whether he already had children and he said he has three children, while his was at home.

“I told him I didn’t want to be part of a polygamous family and I should not declare him as the owner of pregnancy that might occur. I later discovered that he had just a child. He took me to a brothel and had sexual intercourse with me. He gave me N500.

“In total, we slept together three times. He took me to a room the remaining two times. Even two days ago (on the day of interview), we still slept together. He told me he would accept the pregnancy as his, asking me not to worry.”

It was learnt that the two men initially apprehended were transferred to Sanyo police station in Oyo State Police Command for further investigation, while the third man, Kehinde, fled from home when he learnt that his act had been revealed to the OSST.
