Rivers APC Cautions Tinubu Against Deceptive Support from Atiku’s Allies

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a cautionary statement to President Bola Tinubu, advising him not to be swayed by recent displays of support from loyalists of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The party suggested that this gesture was merely an attempt to manipulate Tinubu into securing their loyalty.

The statement came in response to a press conference led by a former Minister of Transportation and leader of the Rivers chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abiye Sekibo, along with former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus and other party chieftains.

At the press conference held in Port Harcourt, they pledged support for President Tinubu and his policies while expressing dissatisfaction with the political situation in Rivers State.

Chairman of Rivers APC, Tony Okocha, expressed skepticism at this sudden show of support, highlighting the past criticisms leveled against President Tinubu by individuals like Sekibo and Secondus during the 2023 presidential election campaign.

Okocha emphasized that these individuals, who once fervently supported Atiku Abubakar, cannot be trusted to genuinely back President Tinubu.

He warned Tinubu against being deceived by these “unrepentant PDP praise singers” who are still bitter over Atiku’s loss in the last election.

Okocha described their actions as an attempt to enter Tinubu’s political circle through deceit, emphasizing that their true loyalty lies with Atiku Abubakar.

Furthermore, Okocha reminded Tinubu of the hate speeches and derogatory remarks made against him during the election campaign, suggesting that these individuals cannot be forgiven for their past actions.

He urged Tinubu not to entertain guests who attempt to gain entry through deceitful means, emphasizing the need to remain vigilant against such tactics.

In conclusion, Okocha reiterated the rejection of any attempts by these individuals to align themselves with President Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of discerning true loyalty from political opportunism.
