Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, issued a stern warning to traditional rulers in the state against protecting suspects involved in the recent killing of military officers and soldiers in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Addressing the traditional rulers at the State Traditional Rulers’ Council Secretariat in Asaba, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and human decency.
He recounted his actions following the incident, including meetings with security chiefs and briefings with the President and military leaders in Abuja.
Governor Oborevwori stressed the need for perpetrators of the crime to face justice, urging traditional rulers not to shield criminals within their kingdoms.

Emphasizing that Delta State operates under the principles of law and human dignity, the Governor condemned the heinous act and called for unity and cooperation in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He urged traditional rulers to cooperate with security agencies in apprehending the culprits and warned against any attempt to politicize the issue.
In response, the Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (retd.), expressed solidarity with the Governor’s stance on ensuring peace and security in the state.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional rulers and the government in maintaining peace and called for a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the root causes of the crisis.
