- Senator Lawan should not be a factor if APC as a Party is serious. In my considered opinion, no serious political party will feature a Northern candidate at this point in time except there is a serious political gang-up against the south. Featuring a Northern candidate will be a great affront on the sensibilities of Nigerians. We need mutual trust and respect.
- Other aspirants from the South aside PYO and BAT should be encouraged to step down. The aspirants do not need to wait for Senator Lawan to step down on the floor of Convention before they step down as this will create a negative historical reference.
- Between PYO and BAT, one is more widely connected and politically stronger than the other.
- Between PYO and BAT, one is more strategically positioned than the other.
- There appears to be no significant difference between the potential electoral prosperity of PYO and BAT giving the current political landscape. Both PYO and BAT are eminently customised for victory if APC is intact.
- Between PYO and BAT, one can be convinced to step down more easily than the other.
- Both PYO and BAT need not go into the election together. There should certainly be a way out.
- Whoever emerges between PYO and BAT should see the responsibility of bringing the south together as a topmost immediate priority. Never in the history of Yorubas are our elders been so embarrassed and humiliated by the youths which is against the Omoluabi ethos. We cannot go that way! It is too late to give ourselves a new negative identity. We are certainly products of tradition and culture. Our elders will also realise that the disparaging words that the youths would tolerate yesteryears may generate a reaction today.
- All those fanning the embers of enmity among the leaders would need to stop immediately after the Convention otherwise we will be drifting further backward. Let’s not forget that our people are still being killed daily! Let’s not forget that our youths are at home and their future hanging in the balance.
- No paracetamol is necessary because of PYO and BAT let alone a pint of blood. We should not be quick to forget that PYO is the Vice-President in the current government and BAT admittedly facilitated the government with his political sagacity.
Beyond the political machinations and manipulations, our dear country Nigeria cannot gain momentum until all political gladiators from the North to the South , Christians and Muslims, Youth and Elders agree that the country is in a sorry and deplorable state that needs urgent surgical operation before the last fibre of the breaking point gives way. We cannot afford to tarry any longer. The indices of a failing state are all around us!
Therefore, between PYO and BAT, whoever emerges should adorn the garment of a stateman and not a party man. A leader and not a Winner! If at all he cannot do anything, he should be a lignifying factor that will salvage the country from its present quagmire.
Perhaps the political system throws up a Senator Lawan, a formidable Third Force should be the joy of all. The youths can certainly do it if only we will agree on a single platform.
