Ogun state’s foremost university of medical sciences, Gerar University of Medical Sciences, has appointed Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of Sifax group, as its first Chancellor.
In a statement signed by Inemesit Hanson, a Public Relation specialist said the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. ‘Niran Adetoro, said the appointment of Dr. Taiwo Afolabi as the first Chancellor of the university is a great step in the right direction.
While on the visit of the University, the newly appointed Chancellor, who showed his excitement on the level of development going on in the Institution, said the visit has afford him opportunity to assess the infrastructure on ground in the university as well as inspects the facilities in the faculties of Basic and Allied Health Sciences.
He showed his excitement that the University is taking off from its permanent site as the approval of all its Nine take-off programmes by the National Universities Commission has been confirmed.
The programmes are Nursing Science, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiology, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Radiation Science, Anatomy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Pharmacology.
Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, said he is looking forward to the commencement of academic activities in the university and consequently donates a Toyota Coaster Bus to ease transportation of staff .
