North Central Governors Forum led by its Chairman Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule on Tuesday conveyed the condolences of the Forum to Plateau state Governor Barr Caleb Mutfwang and the people of his state over the Christmas Eve attacks, describing Plateau as a true home for Nigerians.
Engr Sule said during the visit that there is the need to identify the root causes of the issue for a lasting solution on the Plateau.
The North Central Governor’s Forum leader Engr Sule, expressed confidence in Governor Mutfwang’s ability to address the current ugly situation in his state with wisdom and courage.
He characterized the Christmas Eve incident in Plateau as pure terrorism, calling for the deployment of technology to identify perpetrators and curb their operations in the North Central.
He emphasized on the collective responsibility of all Nigerians in addressing the challenge.
Similarly,Governor of Benue state Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State on their condemned the heinous act, calling for unity to safeguard the common destiny of the North Central people.
They encouraged their people to investment in agriculture to harness the region’s abundant natural resources.
On his part, the host Governor Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang pledged to collaborate with his fellow North Central governors to promote peace, unity, and substantial development in the region.
Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for their support after the recent attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of his state.
According to him, North Central constitute a cohesive force in the nation and highlighted the region’s abundant natural resources that their potential are of benefits to the entire nation.
Mutfwang called for united efforts to combat armed banditry, terrorism, and criminal activities prevalent in the region and Condemned the recent acts of terrorism in Plateau.
He appealed to the Federal Government for assistance in dualizing the Wamba-Panyam and Akwanga-Jos roads, crucial gateways for security operations in the North East..
Jos Paramount ruler, Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba,on his part, appreciated the governors’ unity and urged them to focus on the region’s mineral resources for the prosperity of its people.
The delegation from the three states, were made up of top government officials, religious leaders, and traditional rulers among others.
