…..over 90% full accreditation for Programmes in FUNAAB – VC
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has matriculated a total of 223 students of the Part-Time Degree Programme (PTDP) of the University for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
In his address at the matriculation, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, urged the newly-matriculated students to work hard and believe in themselves.
Prof Kehinde congratulated them for making the list as bonafide students of the University, assuring them of the quality education they yearn for.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor said it would interest the students to know that the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Team’s visit in recent times yielded well over 90% full accreditation for Programmes in FUNAAB.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to acquaint themselves with the University’s rules and regulations, charging them to comply with them strictly to avoid being sanctioned with punishments ranging from suspension to rustication and expulsion from the University.
Prof. Kehinde emphasised that the University would continue to intensify the monitoring of students’ activities to keep the campus peaceful, adding that FUNAAB would continue a sustained effort at encouraging students to be disciplined in both academic and social activities.
According to him, “Miscreants and academic pretenders, who have other reasons for being in the University aside from academic pursuit, would not be tolerated.”
He noted that the University Administration would continue to sustain and encourage students to exhibit high degree of discipline in their academic and social lives, saying that the occasion of the Matriculation Ceremony was to admit, advise and caution students on some salient issues around ethics and values that would guarantee successful studentship while nurturing them to become good citizens.
Cautioning the students against vandalisation of electrical wirings and fittings, as well as wilful destruction and damage of furniture both in the lecture halls, auditoria, and classrooms, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the University Administration is striving hard within the limits of the resources at its disposal to make the environment conducive for serious academic activities.
He, therefore, advised the students to take care of their health to avoid the risk of many health-related challenges and enjoined them to get registered at the University Health Centre.
Present at the ceremony were the representative of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and the Director, Academic Planning, Prof. Olajide Sogunle; the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; representative of the University Librarian, Dr. Sarah Adegbaye; Coordinator, Part-Time Degree Programme, Dr. Adeyinka Aladesida and several other top officers in the University.
