Three former students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) have provided a facelift for the Nimbe Adedipe Library of the University. The three former students of the University who have set a new tone in commitment to the development of their alma mater are Director, BudgIT, Engr. Oluseun Onigbinde; (alongside his wife, Oluwaseun), in collaboration with Founder, Aquatic Hub Afrique Network, Mr. Steve Okeleji, and Lead Partner, Oxlade Consulting, Mr. Adeniyi Agunloye.
The Nimbe Adedipe Library is the central University Library of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta named after its founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nurudeen Adedipe.
The trio were motivated by the desire to support the University in ensuring that the Nimbe Adedipe Library becomes the best among equals as envisioned by the current leadership of the University.
ValidViewNetwork had earlier reported that the Vice- Chancellor of the University, Prof. Babatubde Kehinde had made the intention of the Management known in ensuring that no stone was left unturned in positioning the University Library to a world-class Library.
The three former students who facilitated the facelift of the library have also pledged to commit more resources to the upliftment of the University . They made this pledge during an appreciation gathering organised by the University Management in conjunction with the Nimbe Adedipe Library (NAL).
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde expressed his gratitude to the former FUNAABites who deemed it fit to give back to the system which has invested so much in them.
Prof. Kehinde who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Development (DVCD), Prof. Kola Adebayo who incidentally is also an Alumnus of the University and Pioneer President of UNAAB Alumni Association, said the University was honoured by the presence of the former students, adding that it was a special thing of joy for FUNAAB.
“He noted that it was of immeasurable value when FUNAAB products look back to give to the University, stressing that it was always a joyful moment when third parties come to fund University projects as government provided funds are inadequate.
Earlier in his Opening Remarks, the University Librarian , Dr. Kehinde Owolabi expressed his excitement, and satisfaction towards the team, stating that this would be his first time witnessing former students of FUNAAB giving back to the University. Dr. Owolabi disclosed that giving the Nimbe Adedipe Library a face lift has been his prayers even before he became the University Librarian, recounting that he spoke to the Vice-Chancellor about it, and he said that some people had promised to paint the building.
Dr Kehinde Owolabi commended the trio for a job well done, adding that for them to have picked the Library showed the importance of a Library in the university system.
Meanwhile, some former students of the University who were footballers have also recently supported the family of Late Chief Coach Victor Ositolu in recorgnition of the remarkable impact the coach made in their lives while they were students of the University.
The demonstration by the trio of Engr. Oluseun Onigbinde, Mr. Steve Okeleji, and Mr. Adeniyi Agunloye and the former students who were footballers in the University is a testament of a wave of commitment to the alma mater which should normally spur other graduates of the University into action, ValidViewNetwork reports.
