Ogun State Government has reiterated its dedication to the welfare of workers within its jurisdiction, as affirmed during the 2024 Workers’ Day celebration.
This commitment echoes across other states like Delta, Benue, Taraba, and Akwa Ibom.
In Taraba State, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas assured workers at Jalingo’s Jolly Nyame Stadium that despite economic challenges, the state remains committed to uplifting both workers and retirees.
He emphasized the crucial role workers play in society and pledged to foster job satisfaction, fair compensation, and avenues for career growth.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced plans to establish a committee to review workers’ demands for salary increases, acknowledging the prevailing hardships.
He addressed this during the Workers’ Day celebration at the Cenotaph in Asaba.

Similarly, in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno pledged to meet the demands of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, including the implementation of the national minimum wage.
He reiterated a commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers and announced initiatives to recruit more healthcare workers for Primary Healthcare Centres.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State assured labour leaders of forthcoming decisions regarding the new minimum wage during a meeting with them.
He highlighted the state government’s efforts in disbursing pensions, gratuities, leave bonuses, and outstanding deductions to workers.
In Benue State, Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia promised to implement the minimum wage agreed upon by the Federal Government and organized labour.
He acknowledged workers’ contributions to the state’s development and assured ongoing efforts to clear salary arrears and augment workers’ salaries through dialogue with labour unions.
